Because growth isn’t always about effort - sometimes it’s about the soil too.
No matter how talented, passionate, or hardworking you are, being in the wrong environment canslowly chip away at your sense of self - worth.
I say this not just from observation but from experience.
I’ve sat in rooms where I gave my best - and still felt invisible.i’ve been part of spaces where my ideas were met with silence, my effort with indifference, and my passion with polite dismissal.
And slowly, it began to show - not on the outside, but deep within.
The Slow Shrinking
Environments don’t just shape how others see you - they shape how you begin to see yourself.
When you are surrounded by constant criticism, emotional neglect, or people who only see a version of you they can manage, you begin to second-guess yourself.
You start dimming your light so it doesn’t bother any one.
You quiet your voice - not because you have lost it, but because no one is listening.
Over time, you start questioning yourself with the wrong ones:
“Am I not enough?”
“Why can’t I keep up?”
“May be it’s my fault…..”
This is how erosion begins - not in your talent or intelligence, but in your belief in yourself.
It’s Not You. It’s the Soil.
Here’s the truth I wish more. Of us were told:
“A seed won’t bloom on concrete.
Not because it’s flawed, but because
It was never meant to grow there.”
You may be putting in all the effort, all the energy - but if your environment is cold, critical, or simply misaligned, you wont thrive.
You will survive. You may even look Fine.
But inside you will feel like you are slowly fading.
Believe me it is not your fault.
Because growth is not just about effort alone
It’s about the right soil - a place that nourishes your energy, values, your voice and sees your strength as a gift and not as a threat.
The Power of Choosing Better Soil
At some point, I stopped trying to prove myself to people who had already made up their minds. I stopped pouring energy into spaces that made me feel like I had to shrink to belong. I walked away - not out of weakness, but out of wisdom.
And in that walking away, I found something extremely powerful:
Peace.
Clarity.
Any my own self.
The right environment doesn’t ask you to keep proving yourself.
It lets you rest
It lets you grow.
It lets you bloom into the fullness of who you were always meant to be.
Your Space Exists - Don’t Settle
If you are in a space right now that makes you feel small, drained, or constantly unsure of yourself -
Pause
Reflect.
Ask yourself:
- Is it really me?
- Or is the soil all wrong?
You don’t have to keep shrinking just to fit.
You deserve to take up space. To be seen, to be valued and supported.
Find your soil.
And when you do - watch how naturally you bloom.
