Silence Isn’t Emptiness - It is a Space to Grow

Silence - It is a magical word - one that I not consider much, I used to resist.

There is always a kind of fear, the fear of SILENCE. Many a times I had felt the loudness of silence than that of the words and noise. So I rush to fill that with my words either spoken our loud or in mind and distract myself out of that fear. For me silence is synonyms with loneliness or being unproductive. Over a period of time when there were periods of exhaustion both physical and mental, I learned, I realised, I started to accept the fact that SILENCE is not absence of something, but it iws the presence of every other thing we tend to avoid often.

I felt and realised that SILENCE is the mirror of reflection of my inner self.  When I am silent not just physically but also when I tried to shut up my wandering thoughts and mind, I realised that, I could feel a sense of clarity, answer to a lot of questions. I could clear and hear amidst chaos. I could breathe freely, reflect a lot of things and realign myself.

Silence amidst chaos is ok, but not all silence is comfortable.  A few silences show us that there is a deep wound beneath the scar, heavy heart, unhealed pain. Silence has a role to play by itself - it teaches patience, it invites introspection. It gives clarity.

Silence taught me one biggest truth - that not every question needs an immediate answer. Not every conflict requires a solution. Not every moment of pause has to be filled.

Nowadays, I make space for silence as a routine. My morning walks, or when I sip my cup of coffee all alone or when I sit listening to the pauses during mindful conversations all are filled with meaningful SILENCE.

AndI have found out the profound truth that silence is no longer void. It is the place where healing begins.

Ask Yourself
When was the last time you sat in silence without feeling guilty or restless? What did you notice?

Journal Prompt:
Explore a moment where silence helped you make a meaningful decision, understand a situation and or reconnect with yourself.
