I keep reminiscing myself regularly as to what is in my bag, both my hand bag and also my back bag. But behind this simple question "What is in your bag" lies a deep meaning of what we carry not just in our physical bag but also in the invisible bag, that we have which includes our mind and heart.
We have to understand that every other day we carry a bag - both real and invisible. The real bag might be a leather toe, a back bag or the unseen emotional pouch that is hanging on to your shoulders. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself: "What is in my bag?"
Every now and then I do a thorough search, clean the bag sort the bills and papers throw away unwanted ones and repack them with all the necessary and important things. We pack so many things before stepping out into the world. Some we consciously choose - our phones, keys, wallets and plans for the day may be a to do list or physical planners too. But along with them we also carry things we did not intent to - expectations, worries, memories, regrets and fears. They sit quietly at the bottom of our bag, adding weight to every step, often without us realizing it.
The Weight We Don't See
Not all burdens make a sound. Some are neatly folded between our smiles. We tell ourselves we are fine, that the bag is not that heavy, but deep inside we feel the strain. Sometimes it is the pressure to perform, to be liked, to be perfect, other times, it is the guilt of past choices or the grief of unspoken goodbyes.
The truth is - the bag we carry every day reflects the state of out mind and heart. When it is cluttered with unresolved emotions and unchecked thoughts, even the smallest task feels exhausting. But when it is filled with gratitude, peace and purpose, even the longest journey feels lighter.
Time to Empty and Repack
May be it is now the time to sit down, unzip the bag, and see what is inside. What are you holding onto that no longer serves you? What beliefs for memories are taking up space meant for new dreams?
Let go of comparison - It is heavier than it looks.
Release resentment - It stains everything it touches.
Drop Perfection - it is a brick disguised as motivation.
Instead, repack your bag with kindness, resillience, and a little curiosity. Add forgiveness - both for yourself and others. Slip in a note of self belief. And don't forget to leave some room for joy, it travels best when there is a space to breathe.
The Choice We Make Daily
Every morning, we get to decide what goes into our bag. And it should be only us who should decide what all should go in and what all should not. go in. The world will definitely hand us opinions, noise and negativity - but we don't have to pack it all. Be intentional. Choose lightness. Carry what matters.
Because at the end of the day, the bag you carry defines how far y ou will go - not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too.
So pause for a moment and ask yourself today.
What is really in your bag?
And what do you want to carry forward from here?
